This may be somewhat of a misnomer. It would be extremely unlikely that two applications would conflict with each other. It might be more accurate to call these “Conflicts that include an application.” It is not uncommon for a system extension or driver to cause problems with an otherwise functional application.
The reason for the failure can be the application not following the rules (and getting away with it when a particular system extension or driver is not present). It can also be a system extension or driver not following the rules.
